Frederik Thygesen

Consultant, Risk Analyst

I live in Aarhus, trying to live as simply as possible in an apartment of just 28 square meters.

I love spending time outdoors, hiking, training and baking sourdough bread. The latter has been very challenging. It is all about refining each step of the process to get the right crumb and height. If you make a mistake in one step, the result will not get as good. I also do a lot of volunteering which fills me with a great sense of purpose.

With a background in mathematics (actuarial mathematics), I am the main architect behind ACI’s quantitative risk models. It has been fun to convert the risk management at ACI from qualitative to quantitative, driven by numbers rather than gut feeling.

I love immersing myself in log-normal distributions and Monte Carlo simulations. However, I also enjoy sharing and teaching others about the quantitative approach on a less complex level. And like with my sourdough bread, I refine each step in our risk management process continuously, so the result improves each time.
